Ancient crafts are an important part of our historical background.
In our programme we will approach the neglected part of our history.
There will be an opportunity to meet creative and unusual people, and
to learn to distinguish their products from "tourist souvenir".
But also to admire the raw materials and successive work phases of a
craftsman, some times more captivating than the final product.
The House of Lemons will invite Apulian masters, skilled craftsmen and
artists who, despite their skill are unknown outside their own town.
An exhibition or, rather, several parallel exhibitions will be held
with the involvement of these craftsmen who, in turn, will offer intensive
courses of practical lessons.
You will be able to try your hand at weaving a wicker basket, sculpting
a block of stone, decorating a typical clay whistle, weaving the pattern
of a tapparazzo (a cross between a carpet [it: tappeto] and a tapestry
[it: arazzo]), pulping papier-machee, and following the constructive
phases of a trullo, an unusual and suggestive example of rural architecture.
